D'abord c'est la rentrée et j'espère que vos vacances s'étaient bien passées!
En juin j'étais en France avec mes copines de patch de Béziers.
C'était la journée nationale de France Patchwork et on a organisé
des stages.
La technique créative de collage qui ne demande pas de couture:
ce n'est ni piécé ni appliqué .
Alors le premier était avec Meri Henriques Vahl, de Californie.
On nous a donné une liste de fournitures:
° une photo de dessin don vous vous inspirez
° des tissus dans les couleurs de votre modèle
° du molleton
° Un morceau de tissu pour le dos
° du tulle noir pour recouvrir votre ouvrage
° Toutes sortes d'embellissements pour obtenir des effets spéciaux:
fils à broder, perles, plumes, sequins, des tulles de différentes autres couleurs
(c'est bien de créer les ombres)
°et surtout l'envie de s'amuser!

It has been school holidays here and so now it is back to school and I am back to
my blog.
In June I returned to Beziers in France and my patchwork friends in Beziers.
Several day courses had been organised around the National Day of France Patchwork
and I had decided to take part!! The first course was given by Meri Henriques Vahl from
California and was to create a collage from a photo or picture. I chose the page from an
Australian calendar, "Nooroo" Mount Wilson, N.S.W. We were asked to take along fabrics
of the same colours, fine black net, beads, wool, sequins etc.
La première étape était de choisir le fond pour le ciel et pour le jardin.
Puis on a coupé et posé des fleurs, branches, et chemin.
The first step was to choose the background fabric for the sky and the garden.
Then it was cutting out all the shapes of flowers, branches, grasses, etc and placing
them on the fabric.
Finalement on a posé un morceau de tulle noir et nous l'avons épinglé bien.
Avec la machine on a cousu en style "free motion quilting".
FInally we cut out shapes of the flowers, twigs, grasses etc. and lay them on the background
using wool, lace, and threads as embellishments.
The last step was to lay fine black net over the top and secure it well with lots of pins.
When this was finished we were left to quilt the layers together, using "free motion quilting"
Meri , notre "prof" a un dimplôme de l'université de Californie.
En 2009 et 2011 elle a reçu le prix des frères du plus beau Quilt du Monde.

It was a terriific day with friends, watching the creation of very different scenes
coming to fruition.
I found I was somewhat limited with the fabric I had taken along and wished
I had a greater variety at my disposal. However we did swap our fabrics and it was
good to see everyone's finished work.
Meri was a great teacher. She has a diploma in art from the University of California
and has won several prizes fro her quilts.
If you have never tried this sort of collage it is relaly easy to do and great fun.
I just need to finish off my scene now and put a border around it.
