Voici un petit couvre-lit pour Reuben mon quatrième petit fils qui était né le 31 octobre.  Oui, le jour de Halloween!!!

J'ai decidé de coudre quelque chose simple et pratique avec les tissus de "stash" en bleu.  Je suis contente avec le résultat et c'est un couvre-lit bien apprecié pendant cet hiver froid et humide ici en Angleterre.  

  Herre is the little quilt I sewed for my fourth grandson Reuben Chuka.  He was born on 31st October, that's to say Halloween!!  I decided to make a quilt that was practical and easy to wash and I chose all the blue fabric from my stash.  I am pleased with the result and I know it has been appreciated during this long cold winter in the UK. 

  Le tissu derrière est de la France et charmant. 

The backing fabric is French and really cute.

Je regrette qu'il y a des semaines de delais de mon blog mais ma copine Christine qui m'a aidé avec mon blog était hospatilsé et même que j'ai fait encore des ouvrages assez important je ne peux pas les publier sans elle.  Je l'envoie mes meilleurs voeux de prompt rétabilissement, maintenant qu'elle est rentrée chez elle.

  D'abord c'est la rentrée et j'espère que vos vacances s'étaient bien passées! 

En juin j'étais en France avec mes copines de patch de Béziers.

C'était la journée nationale de France Patchwork et on a organisé

des stages.

La technique créative de collage qui ne demande pas de couture:

ce n'est ni piécé ni appliqué .

Alors le premier était avec Meri Henriques Vahl, de Californie.

On nous a donné une liste de fournitures:

° une photo de dessin don vous vous inspirez

° des tissus dans les couleurs de votre modèle

° du molleton

° Un morceau de tissu pour le dos

° du tulle noir pour recouvrir votre ouvrage

° Toutes sortes d'embellissements pour obtenir des effets spéciaux:

fils à broder, perles, plumes, sequins, des tulles de différentes autres couleurs

(c'est bien de créer les ombres)

°et surtout l'envie de s'amuser!

Moi  j'ai choisi un  page d'un calendrier australien:

It has been school holidays here and so now it is back to school and I am back to

my blog. 

In June I returned to Beziers in France and my patchwork friends in Beziers.

Several day courses had been organised around the National Day of France Patchwork 

and I had decided to take part!! The first course was given by Meri Henriques Vahl from

California and was to create a collage from a photo or picture. I chose the page from an

Australian calendar, "Nooroo" Mount Wilson, N.S.W. We were asked to take along fabrics

of the same colours, fine black net, beads, wool, sequins etc.

 La première étape était de choisir le fond pour le ciel et pour le jardin. 

Puis on a coupé et posé des fleurs, branches, et chemin. 

The first step was to choose the background fabric for the sky and the garden.

Then it was cutting out all the shapes of flowers, branches, grasses, etc and placing

them on the fabric.  

  Finalement on a posé un morceau de tulle noir et nous l'avons épinglé bien. 

Avec la machine on a cousu en style "free motion quilting".   

 FInally we cut out shapes of the flowers, twigs, grasses etc. and lay them on the background

using wool, lace, and threads as embellishments. 

The last step was to lay fine black net over the top and secure it well with lots of pins.

When this was finished we were left to quilt the layers together, using "free motion quilting"

Meri , notre "prof" a un dimplôme de l'université de Californie.

En 2009 et 2011 elle a reçu le prix des frères du plus beau Quilt du Monde.

It was a terriific day with friends, watching the creation of very different scenes

coming to fruition. 

I found I was somewhat limited with the fabric I had taken along and wished

I had a greater variety at my disposal. However we did swap our fabrics and it was

good to see everyone's finished work. 

Meri was a great teacher. She has a diploma in art from the University of California

and has won several prizes fro her quilts. 

If you have never tried this sort of collage it is relaly easy to do and great fun.

I just need to finish off my scene now and put a border around it.

  Voici le livre où j'ai choisi un dessin pour un cadeau pour ma copine Ruth

et sa nouvelle maison. 

C'était un dessin très facile et très rapide à faire.

and her new house. 

It was simple and quick to do!!

  Et voici Ruth et le plaid dans sa nouvelle maison. 

Le tissu que j'avais choisi est  "Les Soirées de Vienne" de Moda et

j'en avais acheté à Sydney pendant ma dernière visite. 

Alors il y a des notes de musique car Ruth est chanteuse.

De plus Sydney est sa ville natale.  Mais j'ai deviné la couleur. 

Est-ce que les couleurs vont aller dans sa nouvelle maison?

The fabric I chose was "VIennese Nights" by Moda and I bought it

the last time I was in Sydney.

Ruth is a singer and I knew she would appreciate the notes on the fabric and

she was born in Sydney so that was a good omen. 

But the colour, was it going to be a good choice for her new house? 

  Alors on est montées pour voir sa nouvelle chambre et voilà, la couleur était parfaite!

Elle était ravie parce que sa chambre est dans les mêmes tons de tourquoise. 

Quelle chance!!

We went upstairs with the quilt as she wanted to show me her bedroom and

I couldnt have chosen a colour more perfect. 

She was thrilled!

 Toujours j'ai voulu faire un couvre-lit en tissu Kaffe Fasset et enfin j'ai eu l'opportunité. 

Je suis en membre d'un groupe "Euroswap" qui travaille en Internet. 

On a décidé de faire un ouvrage en tissu Kaffe Fasset rose et orange. 

On nous a donné les informations pour faire 15 blocs, et dès qu'on a fait des blocs on

les envoie au chef de groupe à Paris qui les redistribue et qui les renvoie,

un mélange de 15 blocs. 

De cette façon on a un mélange fabuleux de tissu très coloré et varié. 

  I have always wanted to sew a quilt using Kaffe Fasset fabrics and at last I had the chance. 

I belong to a group "Euroswap" through the Internet and when the list was posted I had

no hesitation in signing up.  We were given the pattern and asked to sew 15 blocks in

predominantly pink and orange. They then had to be sent off to the group leader who

redistributed them and one finally received 15 different blocks in a much wider colour

assortment. 

Je me suis amusée en assemblant les blocs et j'étais trmès contente de trouver

un tissu parfait en  Kaffe Fasset pour la bordure.  Je trouve le couvre-lit très inspirant et

dans cet hiver à Londres il réchauffe mon coeur.

I really enjoyed putting these blocks together and was so pleased to find a

wonderful Kaffe Fasset fabric for the border.  During these very grey wintry days I find

the quilt really uplifting, bright and cheery.

  L'année dernière avec mes copines de Béziers, nous avons fait une visite à Bath

une ville romaine Anglaise, vraiment fabuleuse.

J'avais la chance de loger avec une femme, Sandy, qui est passionnée d'hexagones très petits. 

Elle m'a montré sa technique et ses couvres-lits fait avec mille de hexagones. 

Alors j'ai commencé et c'est vrai, c'est un peu addictif!!

  Ayant fait un couvre-lit chaque membre de ma famille,

j'ai decidé d'en faire pour un pour ma poupée, Patricia.

Elle la mérite car elle a voyagé avec moi partout dans le monde.  Elle est d'origine italienne,

mais mes parents l'ont gagnée à Sydney quand j'avais trois ans.

  Last year, with my patchwork friends from Béziers, we had a wonderful to Bath, which i

a wonderful Roman city.  I had the chance to stay with a wonderful patchwork lady,

Sandy, who is passionate about quilting with hexagons, an the smaller the better for her!! 

Her quilts are sheer perfection with thousands of tiny hexagons placed together in wonderful

patterns and colours.  I felt so privileged to watch her and learn her technique that I decided

there and then to have a go myself.   

Having made quilts for everyone in my family, I decided the nesxt person was going

to be Patricia my beautiful doll. Well she deserves it as she has accompanied me

in all my travels round the world.  Originally from Italy my parents won her in Sydney

when I was three. 

 Voici un détail pour voir que les hexagones mesurent 2 cm.

C'est vrai que mes points ne sont pas très réguliers.

Je ferai mieux la prochaine fois!!
